2020 Hellman Fellow
Assistant Professor, Science and Technology
Project Title: Molecular Eugenics
Project Description: This Fellowship supports research on the history of social science genomics that will document intellectual and institutional links to older eugenic projects and examine why those links are not readily apparent to today’s genomic social scientists. The project will employ archival research, computational text analysis, and oral history, and will produce two journal articles and a book. These publications will bring the history of eugenics into the twenty-first century, explore how eugenic thought has adapted to advances in molecular biology and assisted reproductive technology, and interrogate the relationship between eugenics and the social sciences.
