Project Title: Thin, White, and Saved: Fat Stigma and the Fear of the Big Black Body
My research examines how race, class, and gender intersect on the body to create or sustain inequality. The Hellman Award will support the completion of my book, Thin, White and Saved: Fat Stigma and the Fear of the Big Black Body. In it, I detail how body size in particular has been used to maintain social hierarchies in the United States.
