2016 Hellman Graduate Awardee
5th Year PhD in Physics
Matt Jaffe uses atom-laser interactions to measure tiny forces on atoms. Accurately measuring such tiny forces can answer big questions about the universe, such as searching for the identity of dark energy or learning more about gravity (the weakest, least understood force we know).
“I’m honored and excited to receive the Hellman Graduate Award. It will allow me to focus fully on my research, giving me confidence and motivation to pursue ambitious projects.”
